Doll Making

Craftswoman Maimona Abdullah comes from a talented and creative family involved in weaving and stitching traditional clothes. She started out at the age of five when she learnt to stitch Jalabiyas and other dresses. She began in earnest in 1994 when she designed Gargaoun bags. After that she moved to designing and making different kinds of traditional dolls. Eventually she gained acceptance and was in good demand. She also makes cards in the shape of dolls’ faces.

Miamona moved from Al Jasra Handcrafts Centre to the Capital Complex and finally to the Crafts Centre where she exhibits her creation in various shapes and sizes. She takes part in all the exhibitions and activities of the Centre.

She hopes to have her own shop and take her art to the GCC, Arab and international levels.
